Short term counselling is available at WOMEN’S Healthworks for women over the age of 18 years. Individual counselling is offered for women seeking assistance for a variety of life challenges such as depression, anxiety, grief and loss, parenting, relationship distress, migration stress, work/life balance and confidence and self-esteem difficulties.

Counselling is centred around each individual’s desires and goals and offers an opportunity for women to increase awareness of the nature of the difficulties they are currently facing. Individual support is provided to assist woman to make choices to reach their potential and increase personal fulfillment.

The initial appointment with the WOMEN’S Healthworks counsellor will explore each woman’s unique situation to ensure that our counselling service is the most appropriate and beneficial to meet your needs. In some instances a referral to a more suitable service may be suggested.

Women seeking counselling at WOMEN’S Healthworks can call reception on 9300 1566 and will be placed on the waiting list for an initial appointment to meet with the counsellor. Our counselling service is limited and is only available three days per week. The wait for an initial appointment may be up to 3 months.

Fees apply: $10.00 (unemployed or on benefits)

  $20.00 (part-time worker)
  $40.00 (full-time worker)

Private Psychologists working from WOMEN’S Healthworks

Pam O’Connor, Psychologist (available at WHW on Wednesdays and Fridays)

Pam is an experienced and mature Registered Counselling Psychologist. Women’s issues are her particular interest in addition to stress, anxiety and depression, fears and phobias, self-esteem and identity difficulties. Pam uses a combination of cognitive behavioral strategies (CBT) interpersonal therapy and hypnosis if suitable. Medicare and some health funds rebates are available. Private fees apply.

Gwen Brookes

Gwen is an experienced Psychologist who holds a Masters Degree in Counselling and a PhD in International Health. Clients come to Gwen through self-referral, the recommendation of past clients or their G.P. Gwen has extensive experience in counselling individuals and couples (12years) and is well known for her informal gentle supportive approach. At the first session, a collaborative plan for the number of treatment sessions is discussed with the client.
