What is Stepping It Out?

The Stepping It Out Program aims to encourage women of all ages and cultures to engage in walking for fitness. Our walks vary in length, cater to all levels of fitness and are FREE! We encourage you to stay for a coffee and a chat after the walk.

Being active every day is not difficult and there are many benefits. Engaging in moderate physical activity reduces your risk of major diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and it helps to control your blood pressure, cholesterol and weight. It will also make you feel good, both physically and mentally!

OUTDOORS

Joondalup (WOMEN’S Healthworks), Tuesdays @ 9am

Every Tuesday morning, in all-weather at 9.00am, Hazel and Margaret lead a walk from WOMEN’S Healthworks. The social aspect of the group is as important as the physical side with many of the walkers organising external walks and events for the ladies to participate in.

 

Want to Stay Indoors – then Mall Walking may be for you…?

 

WOMEN’S Healthworks identified a number of reasons why many women were reluctant to walk (the environment – weather, flies, dogs, convenience, security, motivation and time).
In 2002 we started the first mall walking at Whitfords. Mall walking can now be found in a number of shopping centres throughout Perth. Our Lakeside Joondalup City and Westfield Whitford City Shopping Centre mall walking are led by wonderful women and are extremely social!

Westfield Whitford City Walkers, Tuesdays & Wednesdays @ 9am

This group of women walk at the Westfield Whitford City Shopping Centre and have been for over 10 years! They walk in the mornings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays led by walk leaders Pat and Dawn.
This group meets outside Muffin Break. Look out for the ladies wearing yellow t-shirts.

Joondalup Lakeside Shopping City, Tuesdays & Thursdays @ 9am

Walk leaders, Ann, Margaret and Joan coordinate the Lakeside Walkers. The walkers split themselves up into smaller groups as some ladies tend to walk faster than others. Great physical activity and social interaction all indoors! This group meet at the Food Court (bottom of the escalators).

Walking is a great way to be active with no cost and no equipment required!
