VOLUNTEER CHILD SUPPORT WORKERS
WOMEN'S Healthworks provide creche facilitaties for our clients attending appointments on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We are looking for volunteer Child Support Workers. Duty Statement for Child Support Worker
Thank you for your interest in becoming involved at WOMEN’S Healthworks
WOMEN’S Healthworks (WHW) is a not-for-profit, non-government organisation that is overseen by an elected Board. WHW employs paid staff, however limited resources allows only part time positions. The efficiency of WOMEN'S Healthwork is greatly enhanced by the valuable work of our volunteers.
There are a variety of tasks that WHW require assistance with and we invite you to fill out an application so that we can, as best as possible, match your skills and interests with the needs of our organisation. We will then contact you to make a time for an interview and discuss possible options for your involvement at WOMEN’S Healthworks.
Currently we are looking for help to collate, label and sort our quarterly newsletters (many hands make this a very quick job - four times a year - January, April, July and September)

Definition of Volunteering
A volunteer is someone that undertakes work of her own free will, without payment, and for the benefit of the community.
Volunteering does not substitute paid employment. The role of the volunteer should complement the functions of the paid staff and enhance the quality of the service provision. There are rewards for both the volunteers and the organisation.
The following guidelines are to ensure that the rights of both the volunteer and WOMEN’S Healthworks are respected.Rights of the Volunteer
As a volunteer you have the right to:
- Have orientation about the philosophy, policies and procedures of WOMEN’S Healthworks;
- Be ensured adequate support, instruction, materials and resources to complete the tasks required;
- Be insured adequately while working;
- A safe and healthy working environment;
- Ask questions and voice concerns to administration, including the Executive Director;
- Be treated with the same respect as paid staff;
- Apply for a position change or a change in duties;
- Say ‘No’ to requests that you think you may not be able to complete, or do not want to take part in;
- Receive a written job description when undertaking specific duties; and
- Be offered reimbursement and/or compensation to cover authorised out of pocket expenses.
Responsibilities of the Volunteer
- As a volunteer you have the responsibility to:
- Uphold the philosophy of WOMEN’S Healthworks;
- Uphold the policy and procedures of WOMEN’S Healthworks;
- Be dependable and reliable, and notify Administration staff as soon as you know you are unable to come to work/attend a meeting;
- Be willing to undertake training in order to perform your tasks more effectively;
- Treat all personal and organisational information as confidential;
- Care for yourself and not become over-committed, and say ‘no’ when appropriate; and
- Give adequate notice of intention to resign.
Rights of WOMEN’S Healthworks
WOMEN’S Healthworks has the right to:
- Expect that our policies and philosophy are upheld by volunteers;
- Expect reliability, responsibility, commitment and professionalism from people who choose to volunteer their services on the basis of the information provided by WOMEN’S Healthworks;
- Expect the confidentiality is maintained at all times; and
- Accept or reject volunteers for specific placements.
Responsibilities of WOMEN’S Healthworks
WOMEN’S Healthworks has the responsibility to:
- Provide adequate orientation;
- Adequate support and instruction;
- Provide insurance;
- Provide a safe and healthy work environment;
- Treat volunteers with due respect;
- Value volunteers feedback and ideas; and
- Reimburse and/or compensate authorised out of pocket expenses.
